The Unforgettable Sea Of Cortez was named Best Book Of The Year by the California Outdoor Writers Association in a presentation held at Oxnard, California. The award was presented to Gene Kira (center) by Bill Karr (left) of Western Outdoor News, who was elected as the association’s president for 2000. At right, is the publisher of the book, Mike Bales, of Cortez Publications.
